Light House aims to increase the enjoyment and understanding of technologically - based media, in particular film, video, photography and creative media and to emphasise their importance to the cultural, social and economic life of Wolverhampton, the West Midlands and further afield.
Facilities include two cinemas which screen independent contemporary and retrospective films in high definition format; photography exhibitions in the gallery space; video and multimedia production; special events; media training courses; an extensive Media Reference Library; and Lock Works Café Bar.
Light House Media Centre won Silver in the best festival/event of the year category for the Flip Animation Festival in the Black Country Hotel & Tourism Awards 2007. ÊMore than 900 people attended the event in October 2006, which featured talks by animation industry experts, screenings of work by talented schoolchildren, students, graduates and animators from across the West Midlands and festival premieres of regional, national and international animation.
